NDIS2 New Policy: Keys for SMB’s

Starting October 18, 2024, the NIS2 Policy will come into force, a European regulation designed to strengthen cybersecurity in companies operating in essential sectors and critical services. This regulation will affect medium and large companies across various sectors, and compliance is mandatory.

What is the NIS2 Directive?
The NIS2 Directive extends security requirements to more sectors and establishes new obligations in risk management and cybersecurity incident reporting. If your company has more than 50 employees or a turnover exceeding 10 million euros, this regulation could apply to your business.

Key requirements for SMEs:

  • Risk management: You must implement cybersecurity policies that cover the protection of your systems and supply chain security.
  • Incident reporting: In the event of a significant cyberattack, you will be required to report it to authorities within 24 hours.
  • Management responsibility: The company’s senior management will be responsible for ensuring compliance with cybersecurity measures, which includes training and active oversight.

What are the implications for your business?
Failure to comply with these obligations can result in fines of up to 10 million euros or 2% of annual turnover. This highlights the importance of having a solid cybersecurity plan.

Important: Even if your company does not meet the thresholds of 50 employees or 10 million euros in turnover, if you operate in sectors considered critical, such as healthcare, digital infrastructure, or financial services, you will also be subject to the NIS2 Directive.
This is especially relevant if your company provides services that, if interrupted, could seriously impact society or the economy.

At Inmove IT Solutions, we are here to help you prepare your business to comply with NIS2 by reviewing your current systems, assessing risks, and proposing measures to ensure your company is protected and compliant with the strictest regulations.
